After a while of silence because of the pandemic lockdowns, we created a dinner where we bought mushrooms, lentils, and poppy seeds for the table. A moment of care for our friends after such a long time without social contacts and for our non-human companion by staying with and shifting
our attention to them.
As an appetiser, we lingered for a while with different kinds of mushrooms, mindfully discovering them with our senses. We smelled them, felt their bodies, listened to them, and let them slowly melt on our tongues. For the main course, we tuned into lentils. While watching a film about the production of lentils, we discussed and questioned their economic function in our far too human-centred world.
Poppy seeds opened our perception of our inner selves as dessert. While eating poppy seed sweets, we were taken on a "dream journey" that allowed us to experience our subconscious realityfrom a different perspective.
